Mental Health Emergencies

If you cannot guarantee your own safety from moment to moment or if you see someone who may be a danger to himself/herself or others, call 911. Police and Sheriff’s deputies will transport the person to a facility where he or she will be evaluated for mental health treatment. Keep in mind that no one can be hospitalized against his will unless he is a danger to himself or to others because of mental illness.

When there is a crisis but there is no immediate danger of harm and the patient is medically stable, treatment at a lower level of care may be appropriate:
